Your New Favorite Song

Foxy Shazam- Bye Bye Symphony

SXSW buzzband…..Ok so the first time we heard this song….we were not overly impressed. Thinking it sounded like some wannabe broadway/Queen song, we moved on to listen to the current indie-rock royalty, The XX.

Then, the next day we accidentally had our iTunes on repeat and zoned out with this song on. Let’s just say it grows on you. Granted, this song is not for everyone and can come off really showy and hard. However, give this song a chance. Listen to it once, twice, three times before you move on to the new shiny song that is gracing Pitchfork pages, and you might appreciate this little diamond in the rough.

Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Can’t See Land

Touted as another “big band” to watch, Frightened Rabbit delivers these chilling and desperate “swim until you can’t see land” vocals wrapped in rich instrumental beauty. For us,  the thought of swimming until you can’t see land, sounds effin’ crazy, but somehow we are hypnotized by these little frightened rabbits. 

Freelance Whales-Generator^Second Floor

This band has been getting a lot of SXSW buzz, so naturally we decided to check it out. Sounds a little like Sufjan Stevens+Plushgun in this tune but overall it’s a sing-along journey with approachable melodies and vulnerable lyrics. Totally could’ve been in the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack with its guitar intro and quite charming chorus. 

Girls with Accents - Fences

Despite the main refrain being “I’m fucking up everything”, Chris does NOT fuck up this song at least. With his raw vocals, and sad story, i kinda just wanna hug this dude.
